October 7, 2002 marked my 25th
anniversary in real estate. It has been a wonderful experience and I wouldn't
have traded the time for anything else. I have immensely enjoyed my work with
Eichler owners, as Steve and I are Eichler people ourselves, having owned four.
We have decided however, that it is time to move on to new endeavors, as we will
be turning 50 this year. I am going to take a shot at writing full time and
Steve is going back to his music -his first career was as a classical and jazz'
musician. We will be relocating as well and will be busy:: building a new home
in Sedona,AZ. It will be a pueblo style
with radiant heat and big outside courtyards -a southwest Eichler if you will.
Â
We have been working on a way to hand off our
busiÂnesses to other very talented professionals and feel that we are now in a
position to move on, knowing that you will be in good hands. Henri Varela is an
Eichler owner/client of mine, who also is a master sheetrocking contractor. He
has his general contractor's license as well, and has been working with Steve
recently to transition the remodeling/ repairing of Eichlers over to him. Henri,
who is every bit the perfectionist that Steve is, will be keeping some of
Steve's wonderful workers as well. He.l1fi was born in Portugal, lived in France
and in addition to speaking four languages, is quite the wine connoisseur. We
know you will enjoy working with him. Henri can be reached at 408-737-8464.
Â
As for buying and selling, I am most confident
that you will be happy with the team of two agents whom I have known for years.
Nil Erdal and Nil Keskin are at Coldwell Banker. I consider them very
professional, classy ladies. The fact that Nil Erdal received her master's
degree from my alma mater, Michigan State, is a mere coincidence,
not a bias! Nil Erdal has been in the business for 15 years and Nil Keskin for
12, so they are seasoned veterans. They both were born in Turkey and have that
wonderful Mediterranean spirit of hospitality. They can be reached at
408-996-1100. Nil ErdaI's direct line is 408-872-3184 and her email is
nil@nilerdal.com.
Â
Our concern for Eichler owners is that there are
numerous self proclaimed Eichler specialists (meaning they have websites), who
have been generating a lot of information in the market place. On one site in
particular, anyone who is willing to pay the ad fees is listed as a specialist.
Our best advice to you is, always find out how many Eichlers they have actually
dealt with and get referrals from other Eichler owners who have used them. The
list of contractors we have been recommending is constantly changing as
companies changed ownership, or we have found better products to recommend. As
for agents, I felt it was important to find individuals who were highly
competent and ethical as well as knowing something about Eichlers and most
importantly, being enÂthusiastic about them. The two Nils were at the top of a
very short list and I was delighted when they jumped at the chance to be
involved. You will be hearing from them and Henri very soon.
Â
Steve and I will be available by local phone to
help transition and answer questions, so please feel free to call. Use the
408-404-6800 as it will roam wherever we are. Our properties are on the market
now so we will be in town for at least another month. Working with Henri and the
two Nils, we will continue to help find you the best services available for your
Eichler home. On behalf of Steve and myself, we wish you continued happiness and
harmony in your home.
